Chapter 26: The Cinnabar Lab

Brian had traveled to Cinnabar Island to visit the Cinnabar Laboratory, knowing it specializes in reviving fossilized Pokemon. He had four badges, and decided it was time to take a trip to revive the Old Amber he found in Mt. Moon. The tropical weather of the island was moist and refreshing, and it appeared something was amiss about the shore, but Brian couldn’t figure out what.
Brian walked through the sliding doors of Cinnabar Lab. Inside he saw a man waddling his fingers like a child, three trainers that looked like they want to trade, and a man reviving a fossil. “Ah, I’ve been expecting you!” said the man. “My name is Professor Sashkatch.”
“Nice to meet you Professor.” Brian politely responded. “I have a fossil Professor Oak said you could examine.”
“Of course I could.” Said Professor Sashkatch. “Even though I do study fossils, I just wanted to let you know, I’m more of a Pokemon Cryptozoologist. There are plenty of undocumented Pokemon out there, but nobody knows where they’re from!”
“Really…” responded Brian.
“You bet, in fact, I was just studying this “Tar Fossil”.” Professor Sashkatch pointed to the macine’s dome. “I have never seen such a fossil, but there appears to be DNA in it.”
“Do you know which Pokemon it is?” asked Brian.
“Unfortunately no.” answered the Professor. “We’re just going to have to wait patiently for the cloning process to conclude.” The Professor continued. “But there’s more to my studies. Eyewitnesses have reported actual Pokemon cryptids. “Mythical Pokemon.” But the thing is, they’re so mysterious, we don’t even know if they’re Pokemon at all!”
“I never knew this world of Pokemon would be this complex!” said Brian, breaking the fourth wall.
“It is, and there seems to be more to study every day, but that’s enough for now.” The Professor concluded. “Now, lets see that fossil of yours?”
“Of course, here’s my Old Amber.” Said Brian, handing his fossil to Professor Sashkatch.
“It will take awhile for me to fully revive the Pokemon inside.” Said the Professor. “How about sticking around the island for awhile?”
“Sure.” Brian said, and started to leave the lab. Before he could make it to the door, a trio of Team Rocket Members, two humans with white t-shirts with a red R on it, and a Meowth, bursted in. “Oh no! It’s you guys, Jessie & James!”
“AHHAHAHAHA” the three laughed in Unison. “Prepare for trouble.” said Jessie.
“And make it double.” Said the James, with a deep, smooth voice.

To protect the world from Devastation.
To unite all peoples within our nation.
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
To extent our reach to the stars above.
Jessie.
James.
Team Rocket, blasts off at the speed of light!
Surrender now, or prepare to fight!

“Meowth, that’s right!” said Meowth, with a hissy voice that you’d expect a cat to have.
“Since we happened to be in the neighborhood, and because our twerps are here challenging the gym, the Boss sent us on a secret mission.” Said James.
“So, Giovanni didn’t change his mind about this nonsense?” asked the Professor mostly to himself. “I feel guilty for having done this, but I have no choice.” Professor Sashkatch took out a CD from his desk, and gave it to Jessie.
“Hah, that was easy!” said Jessie with a smile.
“Wooh! The boss might actually give us a promotion!” James said! “We’re gonna blast off to riches!” and the Trio ran off.
“Haha, idiots.” Said the Professor, after Jessie, James & Meowth left.
“What do you mean?” asked Brian.
“I gave them the wrong thing!” Professor Sashkatch explained. “Giovanni, the boss of Team Rocket, has just recently started experimenting with Pokemon cloning. Have you ever heard of “Mew”?”
“I think I heard about it in fairy tales.” Brian answered.
“It is a real Pokemon.” The Professor explained. “The first Pokemon cryptid to make it into the Pokedex.” The Professor brought it up on his computer screen. “A colleague of mine, Dr. Fuji, who specializes in Pokemon cloning, so much that he discovered how to make clones even powerful, was able to clone Mew. Giovanni funded the experiments, and the expedition to the southernmost continents where Mew was thought to have originated.”
“Was it a success?” Brian asked.
“Well, according to Dr. Fuji, the experiment was a failure, but he refused to explain what caused the explosion that destroyed the laboratory, and any trace of a supposed clone of Mew was nowhere to be found.” The Professor concluded.
“All this that you’ve told me.” Brian responded. “It’s a lot to comprehend.”
“My boy, its information you may need to know soon.” The Professor stated. “I fear something bad is upon us.”
“Well, I’ll be back for my revived Pokemon tomorrow.” Brian said, leaving. With Brian gone, Professor Sashkatch returned to his computer.
“It was a bad idea from the start. “Operation I.S.O.”, why does that fool want to do retry it?” the Professor asked to himself while bringing up a tall, purple cat-looking Pokemon onto his computer. “And, by himself?”
