Chapter 24: Rescuing Ellen

Adam and Jake had been walking down the dangerous, dark roads of Saffron’s Suburbs for about two hours. Due to the abandoned buildings and dark areas, the two were able to go unseen. They knew where they were going due to finding a receipt for “Torchic’s Bad Guy Bar” in the motorbike’s sidecar. As they were walking together, Adam admitted that he and Ellen Aim used to be lovers. Jake was shocked to learn this, as he believed Adam was just around his age. It turns out that Adam was really 17 years old, but he didn’t look like it. Adam showed Jake a picture from his wallet, of him and a younger Ellen Aim sipping a malt drink together.
“Unfortunately, it wasn’t gonna work out.” Adam said. “She didn’t want to be a Pokemon Trainer, but I did. When she decided to be a singer, and left to pursue her dreams, I decided to break things off with her, and chose not to keep in contact.”
“I guess I can kind of see where you’re getting at.” Said Jake. “You never seemed to be the kind of guy to be a groupie.”
“All this is why I wasn’t so excited about hearing she was in town, but I decided to go to the show anyway.” Adam said. “We’re getting close to Torchic’s. Let’s take over this abandoned building.”
Adam & Jake entered the empty warehouse. As luck would have it, inside the warehouse was a getaway vehicle. “I can hotwire it, you can drive?” Adam asked.
“Sure.” Said Jake. “I’m ready for some action.”
“We may need our Pokemon, keep a couple ready.” Said Adam. “Make sure your weapon is fully loaded, now let’s go.” Adam hotwired the convertible, and Jake took over the drivers seat.
The streets of the district were dirty, dark, and inflamed. It didn’t look like a place you’d want to walk around alone, or without a weapon. Adam pointed to a dark alley, and Jake reversed into it, cutting off the car lights. A gang of Hell’s Angels drove past. “Let’s follow. Drive slowly, and keep your lights low.” Adam ordered. Jake drove just as Adam said, just around the corner, was Torchic’s.

Jake reversed into another alley, this time parking the car. “Think you can go in and create a diversion?” Adam asked.
“Hah, sure. I got it.” Said Jake, cocking his pistol. “Let’s go Pikablu and Porygon!” Jake released Pikablu & Porygon from their Pokeball’s. “I want you guys to wait in the back of the car, when Adam and I return and speed off, cover for us!”
“Pika-bluuu!” said Pikablu, brandishing two pistols in each hand.
“Porygon, Porygon!” said Porygon.
“What about you?” Jake asked Adam.
“I’ll take care of rescuing the girl, all you worry about is distracting the Hell’s Angels.” Adam said. “Ready?”
“… Gotcha.” Said Jake, putting on a jacket as a disguise and walking off to the bar.
Inside Torchic’s, a band was playing music and a transsexual dancer was entertaining the thugs. Jake looked around, the bar seemed to be built inside a warehouse, with offices built on the second and third floor. He took a better look at the second floor, and noticed a familiar face walking into an office with his posse. “’Ey Buddy, don’t think I’ve ever seen you ‘round here before.” Said a gruff ruffian who came up to Jake.
“Maybe that’s because I aint never been ‘round here.” Jake responded, attempting to imitate the ruffian’s tone of voice.
“You look like a Pokemon trainer, lets have a battle, but upstairs, don’t wanna ruin everyone’s good time.” The ruffian said.
“Fine by me.” Jake said.
“You win, you can stay. I win, I throw your ass out. Deal?” the ruffian offered.
“You got it!” Jake agreed. The ruffian led Jake up to a room in the second floor; Jake took a quick look at the door, which he saw the lead Hell’s Angel go into.
Meanwhile, Adam was sitting on a fire escape adjacent to the second floor, waiting for a chance to break in without causing a scene.
The ruffian and Jake were in the room ready for a Pokemon battle. “How about a one-on-one?” asked the ruffian. “Let’s make this interesting.”
“You got it… Let’s go, Scyther!” Jake released his Scyther from the Pokeball. As soon as the Pokeball energy formed into the Mantis, with an angry look, Scyther charged and attacked the ruffian very violently.
“YAAAAAGH!” screamed the ruffian, as Scyther slashed, hacked and sliced about. When Scyther’s bloodlust was finished, the ruffian laid on the floor bleeding mercilessly.
“Guess I win!” said Jake, recalling his Scyther before it went rampaging. Jake searched the body of the ruffian, and took his gun and ammo. Jake went out of the room and back on the veranda of the second floor. He walked up to the door to the fire escape where Adam hid and let him in. “I know where the boss is, I’ll take care of him.” Jake said.
“Good work dude.” Adam said. “I’ll search for Ellen. I left my Charizard on the roof so we could quickly escape back to the car. Meet me up there.” Jake walked up to the door where he saw the lead Hell’s Angel and his posse go into, checked his gun to make sure there was enough ammo, and Adam went to the third floor where he believed they were keeping Ellen.
Ready to take on the enemies, Jake kicked open the door to see the Hell’s Angels Posse playing poker. “Surprise!” Jake said. The lead Hell’s Angel put down his cigar, licked his lips, and chuckled. Meanwhile, Adam kicked open the door to Ellen’s cell, and cut the ropes tieing her to the bed, releasing her.
“Adam?!” Ellen said, surprised to see her ex-boyfriend there to her rescue.
“There’s no time to chat, we gotta get out of here!” Adam said, grabbing Ellen’s arm and escorting her out of her cell. Back downstairs; Jake was continuing to distract the Hell’s Angels Posse.
“Go ahead, slimeball, take the loot!” said the lead Hell’s Angel’s second in command.
“I don’t think he’s here for the loot…” said the lead Hell’s Angel, and an explosion erupted outside.
“Guys, it’s been grand!” said Jake, and he left the office room, leaving the Hell’s Angel’s Posse at their card game. Jake ran back to the fire escape and waiting for Adam & Ellen. In no time, Adam & Ellen arrived at the fire escape. “Were there explosions?” Adam asked Jake.
“Yeah, I don’t remember planning that.” Jake answered.
“Dammit, Blaze!” said Adam. Adam, Jake & Ellen climbed the fire escape to the top of the warehouse and saw that Adam’s Charizard, Blaze, was flaming everything in sight. “Blaze! I didn’t tell you to flame everything up!” Adam chastised his Charizard. “Now stop it and carry us down to the ground!”
“Char!” said Blaze, and the three of them got onto it’s back and flew down to the street.
“Porygon! Start the car!” ordered Jake from the sky, and Porygon got under the driver’s seat and successfully hotwired the car.
“Quick, we gotta get out of here! Return Blaze!” said Adam, recalling his Charizard. Jake got into the drivers seat of the convertible, Adam on the front passenger’s side, and Ellen into the back. “Stay down Ellen, they’re going to shoot us. We got our Pokemon covering us.” Adam said, pointing to Pikablu & Porygon.
“Alright, lets go!” said Jake, shifting into first, then quickly into second gear. Behind them, just as Adam predicted, three bikers started to follow, upset at the fire caused by the Charizard. Porygon shot at them with Psybeam, and Pikablu fired its glocks, all three of the biker’s were knocked off their bikes.
“Speed up, Jake, we might be able to lose them!” Adam commanded. Jake shifted into fourth gear and sped down the streets of Saffron’s suburbs.
Within five minutes, the three had successfully escaped the dangerous district, and seemed to be on the way back to Saffron Strip. “Well Adam, look’s like we got it made, just ride down this street for a few miles and we’re home & dry.” Jake hastily decided.
“I got some bad news, man, it’s not that simple, we gotta ditch the car.” Adam responded.
“What?” said Ellen. “Why?”
“They’ll be dialing 911 on us, my Charizard’s gone and caused trouble…” Adam answered. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep you protected.” Adam assured Ellen.
“Well I hope you know what you’re doing.” Jake said, pulling into an underground parking garage. Jake parked and shut off the car. With Adam leading, Jake & Ellen followed to an elevator.
“Adam, take the stairs with me.” Ellen requested. Adam decided to be fair and go, leaving Jake to take the elevator.
Adam and Ellen climbed up half of the way. “So what do you want to talk about?” Adam asked.
“I just got a lot to say to you, Adam.” Ellen responded.
“No you don’t you got nothing to say!” said Adam.
“What was I supposed to do? I was getting a lot of work.” Ellen said.
“So bye-bye Adam, then?” said Adam more angrily.
“You’re the one who stopped talking before I took off.” Ellen responded.
“Look, forget all that, its history.” Adam said. “I wasn’t even planning on going to your concert but I did because I wanted to see how you were doing.”
“Then why did you come to rescue me?” Ellen asked.
“Because you’re obviously happy with your life. I didn’t want you to lose it.” Adam said, and walked further upstairs, leaving Ellen to go for herself.
“Got everything sorted out?” asked Jake, as Adam & Ellen reached the top. Ellen walked to be by Jake.
“Yeah.” Ellen said. “Let’s go, I wanna go home.”
“You got it.” Adam said, and the three walked out of the parking garage.

To be continued…
